My Approach to Life
All aspects of life touch me, however minute. Is it possible to walk along a hillside and feel the air and not be touched by everything the wind has embraced? No way. Sure, you can get allergies; I am allergic towards some people and some philosophies.
Ravi Shankar Etteth, professionally known by his full name, or as Ravi Shankar is an Indian author, editor and cartoonist.
He was born in Palakkad, Kerala and is a nephew of the cartoonist and author O. V. Vijayan.
His first cartoon appeared in the now-defunct weekly magazine Link. He worked for Indian Express on a contract basis, and later as the Creative Director of the Observer Group. He joined India Today magazine as Art Editor and went on to become Deputy Editor, Executive Editor, Managing Editor and Editor-at-Large. He also edited the group’s afternoon paper Today and launched the lifestyle magazine India Today Spice. He was briefly the CEO and Editor and Chief of Voice of India and Millionaire..
In 1996, Etteth published his first book of short stories The Scream of the Dragonflies. Subsequently, he published five more titles—The Brahmin (2018), The Book of Shiva (2016), The Gold of Their Regrets, (2009) The Village of Widows(2004) and The Tiger By The River. (2002) Etteth is now working on his sixth title—a novel on the shenanigans of Delhi’s super rich. He collaborated with artist Paresh Maity on a book on Kerala. He has also authored a travel book on the state. He is now a columnist and Consulting Editor with The New Indian Express and is based in New Delhi.
